How long does it take to get up and running in AllSpice?

The account setup itself takes a few minutes. During your onboarding call, it’ll take 45-60 minutes to choose all your system settings, migrate your repos or start a new one, and run through a few example issues and design reviews. After that, you’re ready to go.

Do I need my own git storage (Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket) to use AllSpice?

No, though you can set up backup mirrors for your repositories in Github/Gitlab/Bitbucket if you so choose. In a traditional cloud trial, your designs will be hosted in AllSpice-managed SOC 3 Type 2 and/or ISO27001 compliant servers. 

Can I use AllSpice with people besides electrical engineers?

Absolutely! We believe hardware development is collaborative at its core, and try to make it as easy as possible for people to join and participate in reviews. You can add both internal (within your organization) or external (CMs, vendors, design partners) stakeholders. Collaborators are unlimited and free.

What happens if we decide not to continue using AllSpice after the trial?

If your team decides AllSpice is not for you, you can choose to terminate your accounts after the trial period. You can migrate your repos to other git services, and download PDF versions of your issues and design reviews. We’ll hold your data for up to 6 months.

How do I know that my data is safe?

Protecting customer data is our highest priority. Our policy is to match or exceed all security measures for comparable products, such as GitHub & Gitlab.

Here are a few examples of the many ways we protect your data:

• Data Transfer: We use only encrypted transfers to our servers (SSH + HTTPS) and use a one-way hash of all user passwords using bcrypt (same as GitHub).
• Servers: We use only SOC 3 Type 2 and/or ISO27001 compliant servers with customer data encrypted at rest with LUKs encrypted mounts.
• Testing: We continuously test our systems against common attack vectors, including XSS, dependency injection, ReDOS, MitM, etc.
• Rootless: We use multiple levels of protection including rootless runners on our servers, which prevent malicious actors from installing or running arbitrary code to collect user data in the case of an XSS attack. If you have further questions or concerns, please email us at security@allspice.io.
